What is Jameson’s Whiskey?

Jameson is a blended Irish whiskey produced by the Irish Distillers subsidiary of Pernod Ricard. Originally one of the six main Dublin Whiskeys at the Jameson Distillery Bow St., Jameson is now distilled at the New Midleton Distillery in County Cork.

<aside> 💡 For this design week challenge we had the exciting opportunity to work with Jameson’s whiskey, who are wishing to develop a locally inspired cocktail to suit Belfast and Northern Ireland using suitable ingredients in the region.

The graphics design team have the task to design the signage and packaging of the new cocktail. We get the task to create a “digital product” or “experience” that will assist with the process of the new cocktail.

Some ideas

• A map that allows mixologists and bartenders to submit their cocktail for consideration
• A map based product that allows people to source ingredients themselves and demonstrates how to make the cocktail
• A digital product that displays local establishments where the cocktail is available and contexts these business yo Jameson’s and a sense of place in NI

The Brief

Our Idea

We came to the idea of designing a prototype that allows Jameson’s cocktail drinks to make their own cocktails at home depending on their ingredients.

We thought this idea would work as neither of us would enjoy drinking whiskey, but if we were able to make a whiskey with an ingredient we do enjoy such as strawberries or coffee we would be able to use this app to filter the Jameson’s cocktails to find the cocktail with the ingredient we enjoy!

Final file

Please find below the final prototype of the application. Overall I wasn’t 100% happy with the design, but for a few days work.. I think we aced this challenge! We produced something sustainable and unique, with a good design idea behind it.
